Terri Benskin is a PhD student specializing in health informatics. Her academic journey began with Bachelor of Science degrees in Criminal Justice (Pre-Law) and Health Information Administration. Building on this foundation, she earned a Master’s in Health Administration (MHA) before delving deeper into the world of health informatics. Terri’s research interests lie in prognosis research, focusing particularly on thyroid cancer and cancer informatics. Her research has been presented at the International Conference on Bioinformatics and Biomedicine and selected for special issue publication in the International Journal of Data Mining and Bioinformatics.
While working on her PhD, Terri has enjoyed a successful professional career as a Revenue Cycle and Health Information Management expert. She has a proven track record for leading organizational initiatives, resulting in transformative outcomes for healthcare facilities. Her certifications from the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) include Registered Health Information Administration (RHIA) and Certified Coding Specialist (CCS). Terri has contributed professionally through presentations at the local, state, and national level on topics in clinical documentation improvement, medical coding, health information management, and quality and patient safety. She is currently serving on the editorial board for the Perspectives in Health Information Management journal and has previously served as a task force member with AHIMA.
